22 months already.
i feel like she's grown by leaps and bounds in the recent 1-2 months. she understands everything we say and she gives us her own spin on the world around her. she listens to reason and usually obeys when we say "last time" ... and she will say "bye bye see you next time" to whatever she is having fun with and that we want her to move away from (toys, kiddie rides, the playground, running tap, hand dryer).
she even tries to listen to my wilder instructions, like not calling for me from her bedroom in the morning before the sun is well and truly up in the sky, and if i don't come immediately, to play with her toys first because i am still sleeping, and try again a little bit later. HAHA.
she sings songs that she learns from school and makes us find them on youtube for her. sometimes it is a bit challenging as her pronunciation mayn't be so clear and not all the songs taught in school are familiar to us. her favourites now are "一只哈巴狗", "pussy cat pussy cat where have you been", "this little pig went to market" ... we hardly have time to go back and revisit older songs. her teacher mentioned to us that she's very quick at picking up new songs and would be able to sing them after one round of singing. wow.
she knows when i am not pleased with her when i flash her "the look" and she will usually stop her nonsense without me having to say much. sometimes it is with a bit of crying, because who likes to be stopped while they are in the middle of something fun, but she stops soon after and will usually ask me "why did h cry? why?" and then answer herself.
we have been bringing her out without diapers for quite some time already because she's as toilet trained as she can get already. she's probably also dry throughout the night as i saw once when i had to wake her up in the morning (rather than vice versa) and her diaper was dry. it's just that we are always trying to sneak in a few more minutes of zzzz each morning that we probably won't be able to catch her before she pees after getting up, so i guess the night time diaper will still have to stay for awhile.
she's getting the hang of sitting down for meals and doesn't fidget as much as in the past. she will also feed herself when we allow her (when the food isn't the messy kind). for that i think i have childcare to thank since it's probably pretty much sit down and eat or be hungry during mealtimes there.
she takes off her shoes on her own and can also put on one particular pair of shoes (the kind that just velcros on without needing to go through another loop) by herself and usually gets them on correctly. she hates us to help her with that.
she makes every moment with her a fun/happy one and it's quite a breeze looking after her.
best kid ever, really.
oh, and her hair is finally growing out. FINALLY.
