19 months - FOTZ wrap-up

FOTZ bring short for "friends of the zoo", the zoo membership card that has allowed us to pop in and out of the zoo on weekends as and when we please, with no pressure to spend a whole day there so as to maximise the price we've paid for a day-entry ticket.
our FOTZ annual membership ended on saturday and so we spent that afternoon at the zoo. when i ask baby about what animals we would see at the zoo she quite rightly listed elephant, giraffe, zebra and orang utan (but forgot polar bear!). it's amazing because we don't usually recount with her the animals we see after each visit, and she's got a whole list of farm animals in her vocab as well but she didn't mention animals like baa baa black sheep, cow, dog, chicken or cat.
anyhow, the trip to the zoo was fun as usual. we spent time at the polar bear enclosure, sat around eating a pear and watching the monkeys (those with colourful butts), and also spent some time at the garden with a view, which overlooks the mandai reservoir. the walk through the rainforest enclosure was also part of the regular route.
we must go to the other sections of the zoo next time where the kangaroos and tigers and pygmy hippos are ... we hardly follow that route because we're always rushing to see if inuka is playing in the water.
i really enjoy our visits to the zoo as there's so much space and greenery around. the weather also tends to be cooler in the late afternoon and so it is quite pleasant to walk around.
will get the FOTZ membership again when we next visit!

19 months - how fun is school?

this fun!

i can see why baby is pretty pleased to be dropped off at school each morning ... look at the things they do! i don't recall having so much fun in school, and i really appreciate the varied activities that the school offers. she's learning new stuff at school too and seems to be picking up the songs they teach quite quickly.
the last time her teacher (林老师) spoke with us, she mentioned that baby was intelligent but was also very active and would wander off during class time after awhile. i think both characteristics combine to make her bored easily and hence get restless and go in search of new and interesting stuff. hopefully the teachers aren't too hard on her when she rushes off! :P but i am glad she's at school so that she is trained early on on the importance of keeping still and listening when necessary. i already find that she can stay in her baby high chair during mealtimes for longer nowadays instead of being a wriggly worm from the 2nd minute. in fact, if she is in a high chair at McDonald's (M! to her), she can be in her seat for as long as it takes to finish her cup corn and for us to finish our food. what a welcome improvement!

19 months - the early bird ...

the time has come for me to grapple with baby cutting down on her sleep time! baby has been falling asleep before 9pm still (thank goodness!) but she has been waking up around 7am every morning for the past week and a half. it hasn't been all that bad since i could get her ready for school and she would also patiently potter around as i got ready for work. but that's really 1 hour less sleep for me ... which means my brain doesn't function by 11pm at night.
just yesterday it felt like i had just fallen asleep when she started calling me and when i didn't hear the usual train rumbles i knew that it was before 5.30am ... tried to ignore her, but knowing that she would likely be bored and start taking off her pajamas and diapers, i popped in and true enough i had a naked baby encounter, with pajamas taken off and her contemplating her diaper (with poo). ARGH!
she did catch snatches of sleep afterwards though, but i basically didn't get much sleep having had to huddle with half my body on the mattress and no blanket!
tomorrow I will try baby proofing her pajamas! must!

19 months - just chilling, naked

baby did it again!
she probably got bored waiting for us to get her out of her bedroom in the morning today and so she took off her pajamas, diaper and was just done with choosing her outfit of the day (a green top with two cats and another top which she mistook for a pair of shorts - i know because when i held it out she started holding onto me like how she would prepping to step into her shorts/trousers/pull-up diapers) from the topmost drawer (that she can now peer into) when i walked in on her today.
man.....

19 months - happy is ...

she's this bubbly kid that always puts all her energy and soul into whatever she's intent on doing - she runs like the wind, she has an independent streak about her and yet she's the sweetest thing when it comes to helping me with random stuff (including taking her bottles of medicine from the fridge and returning them).

19 months - more undressing

walked in on a stark naked baby yesterday morning looking very pleased that she had taken off her zip-up footed fleece pajamas AND her diapers which were lying in a heap. she even managed to fold up her used diaper like the way i do.
mannn, she's really growing up.
and someone please tell me how to childproof her pajamas and diaper!

19 months - when the parents say bye

thanks to the school's online portal, i got a sneak peek into what she usually gets up to in school after we drop her off. i think she's having quite a bit of fun!
