week 27 - and filling out

baby is growing, and the fat clothes i bought earlier on actually fit quite well now ... there's enough belly to hold up the extra cloth in the front and i don't feel like i am swimming in too much material. yay! and hopefully these clothes last the distance!
i guess there is an advantage to being taller and bigger-boned than most, because i'm still able to carry all that extra weight around without looking like a lumbering bear YET. don't feel like i am extra clumsy or that my centre of gravity has shifted that much. all thanks to being well endowed with a big butt, wide hips and non-skinny legs.
baby seems to have more or less settled into a routine of being awake when we get up in the morning, sleeping for most of the morning and early afternoon, and then waking again in the late afternoon/evening until late at night. it's feeling as if baby has much less space to move around now, as every move she makes seems so deliberate and drawn out ... like she has to squirm and squeeze to shift around.
will only know how big she has grown in end may when we go for another detailed scan. can't wait to see baby again.

week 26 - rolling in the deep

baby has been getting really busy inside my tummy .... not just kicks but also big movements that feel like she is rolling around. she was moving so much during a work meeting on friday that i got quite distracted with the moving belly. sometimes all that movement insides makes me feel like my stomach is churning from being sea sick.
the hubby has been singing the song i usually play for baby using my iphone. after i joked that baby may mistakenly think the male singer's voice is her dad's. heh. someone is getting possessive.

week 25 - seeing baby again

went to the doc's today and got to finally see how big baby has grown since the end of feb. she (yes no change in gender!) has plumped up since feb and actually looks like a baby (no awkward shape anymore). the doc happened to get a good view of baby's tummy during the scan today, and said baby was measuring just right in terms of estimated weight ... can't remember if he said 575 or 975g, but since he said the weight was alright i shall just assume whatever the weight was was ok. heh.
doc also said that baby was positioned with head down, which was great too. when i wondered how i could have felt baby kick so low down, he said it was probably baby moving her head given her current position. stay head down baby!!
have put on close to 8kg since getting pregnant. i have never been heavier than what i currently weigh in my life, so the next weigh in at the doc's in end may will probably be quite depressing. urgggh.
in other news, is it just me or are first trimester syndromes rearing their ugly head again? i have been feeling pukish in the morning for three mornings in a row. nooooo .....this is still the second trimester!

week 25 - dancing baby

baby has been dancing to the music i play for her on my iphone. sometimes she kicks just where i place the iphone on my tummy and it's really fun to watch. hopefully she is enjoying the music inside and not squirming and covering her ears because the music is not to her taste! :D

week 24 - and having baby for company

still feel really amazed all the time that there is something alive growing inside of me. all the little reminders that i am carrying another life inside me are so new and wonderful to experience. the nights when i have all the time to spend with baby have been extra special, because it's just me and her. just a magical feeling and helps keep the loneliness at bay especially since the hubby is not around.
also very grateful that the pregnancy has been smooth sailing so far ... everyday that passes makes me more assured that things will turn out fine.

week 23 - everyday a blessing

just a song that has been in my head for many weeks already -
the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
his mercies never come to an end
they are new every morning
great is thy faithfulness O Lord

week 23 - is this water retention?

i have been trying to move about during my free time to make up for the long hours of being on my bum and largely inert on the weekdays. walked all over geneva's downtown yesterday afternoon and spent quite a bit of time on my feet today in annecy. the problem is that i get back to the hotel room to find my feet swelling up and my sock lines showing on my calves. RAAAAH. is this water retention and is it going to get worse? cries. i can't imagine how my legs will look when i go back to wearing skirts in the office with (low) heels in mid-april.
now, everytime i stuff my feet into my boots (very comfy rockport boots, no regrets buying them in the US), i am always half afraid that i can't zip up my boots due to my calves and feet growing bigger. blame the various pregnancy apps that warn of water retention and bigger feet from the second trimester onwards. ARGH! two more weeks ... i just need to be able to fit these boots for two more weeks.

ps: sometimes when baby moves around inside, i can see my belly shifting around. cool!
