week 18 - the bottomless pit

my appetite seems to have doubled from pre-pregnancy days, it's scary. today i had a rather hearty breakfast (fried rice noodles, cabbage, fish fillet) washed down with low fat milk, chugged a small bottle of cranberry and apple juice around noon, had an otah thick toast and iced milo while doing work, polished off a bowl of pork rib noodle soup for dinner, and then had a curry puff and a kiwi (for those bowel movements!) while watching late night tv. AND i am still somewhat hungry. omg. the husband predicts that i would have put on 2kg in the past month. we will see at the next doc's appointment (next week).

week 18 - and very ample

my ex-boss, by way of asking if i was pregnant, texted me to say that she noticed at a meeting during mid-week that i was very ample, and that if her guess was right, congratulations were due. i saw the text during a meeting and i nearly burst out laughing. VERY AMPLE!!!! she's the second person to have noticed and to have (dared) to ask me about it.
in not so good news, i am still suffering from constipation. it is a horrible feeling to be all clogged up and unable to do anything about it no matter how i try. plus i now spend inordinate amounts of time in the loo. wurh. on top of prunes, i have also tried kiwis as of yesterday. hopefully they work their magic on my bowels!!

week 17 - prunes are a godsend

the belly is getting bigger and some parts of my feet are being obscured when i look down. most people aren't noticing the bump though, or maybe they do but don't say anything about it.
best discovery for this week was the magic of prunes. somehow got hit by a bad bout of daily constipation these past few days. decided to solve it the old school way and got a huge bag of dried del monte prunes on friday and now i don't think i can do without my daily serving of prunes. they really help with those bowel movements. i heart prunes!

week 16 - popcorn and fat clothes

i THINK i may have felt baby move a few times this past week. have had one popcorn popping moment and have also felt as if something inside me did a big flop. can't say for sure if those were baby's movements though ...
otheer than that, it has been a pretty uneventful past week save for the maternity clothes shopping that i have been doing which has yielded 1 super sleek black dress that i will probably be able to wear post-pregnancy with a belt, 1 flowery less formal tube dress that i can wear to the office with a cardigan, a pair of black tights from uniqlo and a pair of black very comfy low-heeled shoes for work. YAY! am also glad that i got those two stretchy cotton empire cut dresses in krabi for a steal which will probably last me for many weekends ahead.
on a separate note, i am still waiting for some kind soul on the train to give up his/her seat to me ... or maybe i am still not pregnant-looking enough for strangers to conclusively decide that i am pregnant not fat. less observant friends whom i have told say they wouldn't have guessed. is the bump really that small? it looks huge to me when i look down and there is no denying that my flat tummy is gone when i wear fitting clothes.

week 15 - my hubby loves my tummy

while i have been heavier than my current weight (1kg up since week 7) back when i was in school (thank goodness those days are behind me), i don't remember having such a big belly before, and definitely never after I met my husband.
the husband is all amused with how my belly is growing and showing through all my normal clothes. went walking yesterday evening (3.2km of walking takes FOREVER!) and the belly was pushing against my usual dri-fit top ... basically the top was tight at the abdomen area when usually its quite roomy. and he was like awwwwww and started rubbing the belly all over.
the hubby says i will have a very shiny belly soon.
quote of the day: "i'm hugging my two girls at once!"

week 15 - boy or girl?

over the chinese new year holidays, my mum passed us a stack of red packets - half of the red packets had a cute drawing of a boy and the other half a girl. just for fun, ck tossed the stack and the girl red packet landed facing up. HAAAA.
yesterday at the doc's during the routine scan, baby was all chill like a cucumber, and looking really comfortable inside ... so the doc was able to check out the parts down under. when i saw what appeared on the screen i already more or less guessed the outcome .... and when the doc said "85% girl" i think i whooped quite loudly. heh. yaaaaaay! we have a healthy little baby girl that's growing bigger everyday inside me.
doc also said baby was growing well after measuring her head diameter and CRL. forgot to ask him for the measurements though. bah, we always forget to ask him questions when we are there.
as promised to my boss, i gave HR a heads up that i'd be out of action from late july .... a lot of things will have to wait because of this ... but as sam said when i told her that this baby was coming at a time when so many things at work (career progression stuff especially) had been set in motion, "God makes all things beautiful in His time". how true, and it is going to be beautiful.
finally having a little more faith that this pregnancy will turn out fine ... it really is feeling more real now. even though everyday that goes by without anything adverse happening still feels like a mini victory.
next milestone - the detailed scan at around 20 weeks which will probably include the scans and tests for the research study. this means getting to see baby for probably 30 minutes or more. YAY!
