week 14 - fat clothes

either the colleagues are not very observant (all men *shakes head*) or i really hide the bloat/bump/fats well. went shopping for fat clothes yesterday and got a maternity skirt that was OH SO COMFY. felt like i could breathe again!! hehe. it also made the bump look really round and obvious. will probably start wearing it next week. cannot hide the bump much longer in my current work clothes already ....
anyhow, here is a pic from yesterday morning.

week 14 - two in a bikini (update)

update on the bikini situation - BAAAAAD. i look more fat than pregnant because the "baby bump" is somewhat spreading out across my whole abdomen .... which essentially means no obvious "bump". not sure why this is the case though ... is it because my other organs are migrating up as the uterus moves up? and there's no way i can suck in my stomach anymore. i tried a few times these past few days, but failed.
thankfully i haven't had to "parade" around the swimming pool at our hotel because we have a pool access room and i have been able to hide the lower half of me most of the time in the water. the room was a complimentary upgrade as part of the service recovery after a baaaaad check-in / room mix-up experience. basically, our room wasn't ready at 4pm and when we collected the keys at 10pm, the room assigned to us was not made up. NOT acceptable.
on the food front, i felt slightly deprived because i had to stay away from possibly under/uncooked shellfish, cut fruits (pineapples!) and fruit-salad type dishes (e.g. papaya/green mango salads!!) during this trip. nonetheless, had my share of cheap morning glory, tom yum, pad thai / pad see ew and banana pancakes, so i think baby has been really well fed. :D

week 14 - telling the friends

have already told a few close friends about us having a baby ... and everyone was really happy to hear the good news. m heard about it when he FINALLY came online one day out of the blue (at some crazy US time "because he couldn't sleep). qy heard about it when i was deliberating the "two cakes" issue, and so did v who sort of guessed it when i kept saying that the timing of something good coming my way at work was just not so ideal. z heard about it over dinner ... and just kept asking me to eat more because i was too skinny. didn't get a chance to tell sr over a rushed dinner with him one evening, but i smsed him afterwards and he was all excited too (something about seeing if his skills at checking out the gender of the baby were any good should i visit the UK in march). so including js, that's 6 friends who know. there are a few more friends that i'd like to share the good news with soon, but if there's no opportunity, it'll just have to wait.
also, i think i'll wait until the 3 feb doc's appointment before telling the colleagues at work. hopefully i'll be able to hide the big belly until then. i guess if anyone were brave enough to ask between tomorrow and next week, i wouldn't deny it.

week 12 - belly belly

lumpy .... either from too much face-stuffing at yesterday's early reunion dinner, or the baby bump is coming out.

week 12 - this is REAL morning sickness

worst throwing up experience so far, where everything from the japanese crackers i had just before leaving the office and some of my lunch went at high speed into the toilet bowl. i blame the crazy cab driver who accelerated and braked his way across half the island. thankfully i managed to get myself into the house and to the bathroom before throwing up. dignity preserved.

week 11 - fast forwarded

was at the doc's today for the routine check up and to do the first of four rounds of tests for the research project we agreed to go for.
the tests for the research project involved taking baby's measurements using ultrasound, which was cool because we got to see baby for at least 15-20 minutes while the sonographer prodded around to take different shots and measurements of baby and even the blood flows around the womb and through the umbilical cord. we also got many clear shots of baby to keep. and even got paid $10 for participating in the research. getting paid for ultrasound shots, cooool.
our baby likes to chill out quite a bit ... so it was all good for the sonographer. we also saw baby stretch out and wave and kick around. coolness. can't believe that there is something alive inside me that's growing and moving everyday! the only part that wasn't so fun was when baby didn't want to turn around so that the sonographer could get a sideway shot of the head. coughing, turning on my side and even a lot tapping by the sonographer didn't make baby budge. heh. stubborn.
so based on the CRL which came up to 5.5cm, we are 4 days ahead of the EDD, growth spurt?
doc said that to pass this 5.5cm milestone was a very good sign as scientifically, it was past the danger period.
WE ARE IN THE CLEAR!
we will only start blabbing next week though ... funny how there isn't much of an urge to spill the beans.
