week 40 - waiting

i apparently have a stubborn and hard to reach cervix. raaaah!

week 40 - this is it!

weight dropped, amniotic fluids are low and so doc said it would be better and safer to induce. we are in for a (hopefully not too long) ride!

week 39 - the waiting game

friday was my last day at work at least until next year. feels surreal to finally have a clean break knowing that i will not be going back to the same place after maternity.
so now we wait for baby to arrive. doc said yesterday that baby was about 3.5kg, which is crazy considering the estimated weight at last week's appointment was 3kg. maybe it was that 2-3 seeds of durian i had?!?!
anyway, depending on the amniotic fluid levels and how baby is doing by the appointment next wednesday, doc says to be prepared to "invite" baby out that day. hmm, this induction thing is still something to think about ... read about cases where induction didn't work or dragged on for too long because the body wasn't ready such that a c-section was required in the end. that would suck.
so, will just have to keep walking and hopefully baby decides on her own that she will come on wednesday!

week 38 - fat fingers fat feet fat everything

you know you are really heavy when you no longer can spring off the living room sofa or get up from a cross legged position on the floor without some kind of struggle. just hoping i stay around the 15kg weight gain range!
water retention is a bother now more than ever. my fingers feel less flexible, the wedding ring is a tight fit, and it hurts just clenching/gripping stuff. and the feet .... there are good days and bad days .... and i can't be more thankful for my crocs cros-mesh ballet flats which have been a great go to work pair of shoes. love that it provides the comfort i have come to expect from crocs without the chunkiness.
had a check up yesterday and the doc said baby was measuring around 2.9+ kg and that all was fine. he was also testing out his new ultrasound machine which seems to have niftier functions like showing the blood flows. doc also said the umbilical cord is safely away from baby's neck so that's good news. :)

week 37 - cooked

baby's at full term now. we have done good, and i feel really thankful that it has been a rather smooth pregnancy up till now.
had a slight scare when the sonographer told us today that baby was only measuring 2.4kg, which was the same weight that the doc estimated 2 weeks ago. felt that it couldn't be so as the belly has been growing bigger. doc's subsequent scan showed baby to be between 2.8 and 3.1kg, depending on how the measurements were taken. that was a relief, especially since i somehow managed to put on close to 2kg in 2 weeks! gah.
oh well, so long as baby is healthy and doing fine, i will bear with the dugong tag until i pop. one perk of baby getting bigger is that i get free massages from within when baby moves her arms and legs along my tummy. she gets scolded sometimes when it gets too violent though. :D
we will be going for weekly doc appointments from now on ... more time outside the office and more peeks at baby. yay!
we are going to go for long walks from now till baby pops ... hopefully it will help shorten the whole labour process!

week 36 - cute-ing daddy to death

sometime this past week, the hubby realised he could hear baby's heartbeat when he pressed his ear to my tummy. he was tapping out baby's very fast heartbeat for me. that is one thing i won't be able to do.
with all her antics in my tummy and very frequent taps, rolls and busting-her-way-out moves, the hubby says baby is "cute-ing" him to death already .... baby already knows how to find her way into her father's heart! :D
