week 23 - cheese galore

baby has really been kicking around and moving all over this past week. when i'm bored in class and about to fall asleep, nothing gives me a jolt like baby's sudden kick.
just for fun, had played coldplay's yellow on full blast on my iphone and placed it on my belly last night ... and baby danced along. or maybe it was just a coincidence that baby was awake and active last night.
list of cheeses baby and i have had thus far - gouda, edam, emmenthal, gruyere and some french cheese called reblochon. not to mention really affordable babybel cheese. all were yum and full of calcium. we love cheeeeese!

week 22 - going places with baby

made use of the sunny weekend to explore geneva and also to take a day trip to chamonix (yes that exotic ski resort village). baby got lots of vitamin D while i got sunburnt from being out and about in the sun for waaaay too long.
baby has been kicking more often these past 2 days. maybe the kicks are becoming more obvious because baby is getting bigger and stronger. if the photo is anything to go by, baby definitely got bigger over the past week!!

week 22 - and not weighing myself

according to the WTE app, "this week marks the beginning of some serious weight gain" as baby will almost double it's current weight over the next month. please still let my clothes fit until the end of this trip!

week 22 - and far from home

but the hubby still gets to talk to baby on speaker phone, so baby won't forget his voice.
first day of the course began today and once funke noticed the baby belly (because it's the women that notice such things, men usually don't), news spread to the rest of the coursemates and congratulatory hugs and pats on the back started coming. it was nice to give people something to beam about ;D
met up with cy and b for dinner at a cozy bustling italian restaurant that had ferrari paraphernalia and dollar notes from all over the world plastered everywhere. over some quite yummy pizza and pasta, b said he thought i had gotten really fat from stress eating after seeing me 1-2 weeks' ago *faints* i should really wear a "pregnant not fat" sign. cy passed me maple syrup biscuits from montreal ... he said one box for me and one for baby. awww so sweet.
baby is loved!

week 21 - cattle class seat for 2

somewhat dreading the long flight ahead and the likely nightmarish transit at paris. but will do my best to keep hydrated, walk around often without bumping into other passengers and get some sleep on the flight. also will flaunt the bump so that some kind soul will help me with my (only 15kg) bag at the baggage belt in geneva. ;p

week 21 - reading "yearning for conception: the art of waiting"

this article made me remember all those thoughts that would flood my head when i didn't try hard enough to keep them out during the 1-2 years before i finally got pregnant with this little one.

week 21 - warm clothes crisis

will be heading off to colder climes for a month for a work-related course in geneva and then a short stopover in paris where we will be exploring the nearby loire valley.
all very exciting for me and baby (who has already been to krabi), but very irritating because i need some warm clothes that fit!! i can no longer zip up my jeans so i can't get away with that rubber band trick that worked all through the first trimester bloat. i am afraid my feet will decide to swell to ginormous proportions and no longer fit my boots halfway through the trip. PLUS i have always bought fitting warm clothes before so now i really look like a lump in the outerwear that i can still zip up.
oh well, will start panicking and fret some more later this week when i have to pack. :(

week 20 - on a roll

halfway through this pregnancy and i think i am finally getting my head around the fact that this is for real and things are unlikely to screw up from now till july ... and so i am starting to just enjoy BEING pregnant and all the things that come with it - not having a waist, having a bigger appetite than the hubby, wearing low heels or flats to work even though it makes me 2-3 inches shorter, taking all the pregnant woman comments as they come (like me being a dugong!!). also all the things that make me feel really blessed to be pregnant on a daily basis - feeling baby kick when i am sitting through boring meetings and always at night, being more aware about what i eat and what it does to my body and baby, long walks during the weekends with the hubby, the guys in the office being extra nice to me, others being happy for us having a baby, the MIL cooking food i like everytime we go over for dinner ... the list can just go on.
so yes, i am enjoying the process and just trying to stay as positive as the worrier me can. it's all good, and everyday we continue to pray that baby grows well and stays healthy inside.

ps: photo was taken on tuesday night rather than over the weekend.

week 19 - kicks!

felt baby kick for real a few days' back. when she delivers a hard kick it always makes me go oooh! she's really doing quite a lot of moving inside. at night is when baby is the most active and gives the biggest kicks, but now and then i also feel baby kicking in the day in office and the natural reaction is to start rubbing the belly. heh.
saw baby moving quite a lot during the anatomy scan on wednesday too ... so much so that the scan took longer than usual because the sonographer was unable to get measurements. not so chill baby afterall! ;)
doc said all was normal based on the scan results, and also not to worry about the apparent bilateral cysts that showed up in baby's brain during the detailed scan. he said that so far for cases where there were cysts, all turned out fine in the end. really wanting to believe what the doc said, but can't help worrying slightly. wurrrh.
on a lighter (actually heavier) note,, i found out that i put on 3kg in 4 weeks!! but doc said it was all good and reminded me my body was doing catching up for not putting on much weight earlier. so far since week 6/7, my total weight gain has been 4kg. guess that is actually quite a moderate weight gain actually. hoping to keep to a total weight gain of 10kg or slightly more by the end of the pregnancy though .... wonder if it will be possible given how much i enjoy my food nowadays. nom nom nom.
