FOTZ bring short for "friends of the zoo", the zoo membership card that has allowed us to pop in and out of the zoo on weekends as and when we please, with no pressure to spend a whole day there so as to maximise the price we've paid for a day-entry ticket.
our FOTZ annual membership ended on saturday and so we spent that afternoon at the zoo. when i ask baby about what animals we would see at the zoo she quite rightly listed elephant, giraffe, zebra and orang utan (but forgot polar bear!). it's amazing because we don't usually recount with her the animals we see after each visit, and she's got a whole list of farm animals in her vocab as well but she didn't mention animals like baa baa black sheep, cow, dog, chicken or cat.
anyhow, the trip to the zoo was fun as usual. we spent time at the polar bear enclosure, sat around eating a pear and watching the monkeys (those with colourful butts), and also spent some time at the garden with a view, which overlooks the mandai reservoir. the walk through the rainforest enclosure was also part of the regular route.
we must go to the other sections of the zoo next time where the kangaroos and tigers and pygmy hippos are ... we hardly follow that route because we're always rushing to see if inuka is playing in the water.
i really enjoy our visits to the zoo as there's so much space and greenery around. the weather also tends to be cooler in the late afternoon and so it is quite pleasant to walk around.
