21 months - mealtimes

eating out with a toddler (or at least our baby) can be very energy sapping on the rare nasty days.
on good days (when she is in the mood to eat), she will eat partly on her own (with me putting more substantial spoonfuls of food in her mouth) and we can actually have a conversation with her about random stuff (like how many hands are needed to hold a cup, what we are eating, who is drinking what, what other people around us are doing etc). additional bonus is when there are no food-spills for me to clean up afterwards.
on ok days, she will also be prepared to eat but when she is done (which is usually in less than 15 minutes), she will start standing in her baby seat/chair and will want to get down. usually, we oblige if it isn't a crowded place and because i don't believe in feeding her anymore if she's eaten a fair share of food.
on not so good days, she starts off in a grumpy mood and she refuses to eat on her own or be fed, and if i even manage to get food in her mouth, it will be out on the table or on her clothes the next moment because she will spit it out. never mind if it is the same food she would gobble down on another day. when she repeats this a few times, i tend to give up feeding her and just let her do her thing ... because the stress and wet wipes cleaning up ain't worth it and she isn't going to starve since she is a milk guzzler and will some how make it up by eating at the next meal.
of course a sure fire way of getting a solid 10-15 minutes of peace is to have peppa pig playing on the iPad or iPhone during mealtimes, but i am trying to avoid it where possible unless she is really fidgety and other methods of keeping her in her baby seat fails.
so while all the things listed below do sometimes happen while eating out, we thankfully usually spend more than 1% of the entire time eating. not much more, but definitely more.
