week 32 - and D-day gets closer

doc's visit today was long and happily uneventful. baby (she's still a she) was a tease during the growth scan ... she stayed really still for most of the scan, so the ultrasound technician could get most of the necessary measurements done quite easily (good baby!). but towards the end, she kept punching at the ultrasound transducer causing the display to go blurry and the blood flow measurements to go haywire because of the blip in the usual pattern. and there i was lying there feeling really warm (it's me, it's not the air-conditioning, i know) and hoping for the whole session to end. baby is measuring around 1.8kg at the end of 31 weeks, which according to the doc, is a good weight for baby to be. also snuck a peak at some of the body measurements and saw baby was around the 60th percentile, so that's good. normal and boring is good. we see baby again in 3 weeks' time ... by then, we'll be in week 35! was expecting to be scheduled for fortnightly appointments, but apparently not. doc also exempted me from the glucose test. YAY! the research assistant told us today quite matter-of-factly that we had 5 weeks left before baby came along ... yes, apparently most babies make their appearance at week 37. NOOOOOO ... so not ready for that. please stay inside for longer baby! in the meantime, i'm supposed to take "long" walks so that the body is all prepped for a natural delivery given that baby is already head down and the placenta has moved up and out of the way. "long" in my doc's dictionary is about 30 minutes ... that's easy-peasy. we need to get more items off the shopping list - hopefully we tick off the car-seat and cot bedding this weekend.
